Monstera Leaf Necklace in Copper Enamel. Layers of colored enameling glass are sifted  onto the copper surface then fired with a torch until fused and glossy. Four to five layers of glass  are applied. Next the entire surface is painted with a black over glaze and allowed to dry.  The sgraffito or scratch technique is used to scratch patterns through the black surface revealing the colors below.  
Counter-enamelling that is enamelling on the reverse side, is essential as it stabilizes the tensions of the metal.
